Overview

Startup description

My product is a SaaS product equipped with a monthly subscription model that allows retailers to fill staff quickly and reliably.

I founded it as a sole trader in 2023, worked for two years on the project until finally launching the MVP in Q1 January 2025. Since then, I experienced massive growth, but more to that under "Marketing and growth" below. In Q2, I launched all updates and restructured the project in Q3 after getting client feedback. But more on that later.

Target group: Supermarkets like EDEKA & REWE in Germany.

Detailed problem:

A supermarket, like an individual REWE store, has the problem with fluctuation in minijobbers. To attract new minijobbers, the store hangs up a paper in the store offering a new job. However, barely anyone applies because the paper refers to the official career page of REWE. Applying takes great effort via the career page; an applicant is required to upload the entire CV, etc..

Detailed solution:

That's where my solution comes in. The platform consists of two parts:

Mobile App for applicants &

Software for store managers.

The store manager enters the software and creates a job listing. Job listings are saved and can be edited, deleted, paused, or republished at any time. After job listing creation, the store manager hangs up a new paper with a QR code in the store that we provide for download on the dashboard. Now, applicants can scan the QR code in the store, download the mobile app, and apply within 3 clicks to the job offer without a CV.

That saves time and effort. We found that applicants are 86% more likely to apply via our software than official career pages.

The store manager, on the other hand, sees the application in his dashboard of the software. The quality of applicants is ensured through automatic filtering. The store manager sets mandatory requirements like being 18 years old, for example. Only applicants who are 18 years old are able to apply.

When someone applies, an automatic chat is created between the store manager dashboard and the applicant's mobile app. The store manager can send a simple message for a job interview without using email, and therefore, actually be read by the applicant.

The subscription models:

Tier 1: Free - job listing can be created, but applicants cannot be viewed or contacted

Tier 2: Premium 99€/mo - applicants can be messaged

Tier 3: Premium 59€/mo per year - same as monthly.

Key highlights:

Mobile app users: 3,000

Annual revenue: 1,415€

Annual profit: 1,134€

CAC: 0€ for now, all from strong PR, and I walked to the stores and pitched the software + contacts via family

Business margin: 98%, 2% goes to Stripe for receiving payments

Variable costs: Server costs, which are about 3€/mo

Fixed costs: Domain 10€/year, Apple Developer program 99€/year (to have the app on App Store, for Google Play store was only a one-time 25€ expense), Hostinger account is paid for until 2028, FlutterFlow subscription (app & software host) 80€/mo (I used the free version most of the time, that's why profits are still high).

Team

I am a solo founder bootstrapped. I used to have a technical guy, Lukas, and a marketing lady, Lucy. However, they helped as friends and have no time to work on the project under employment because they are in a master's degree at the university.

Tech Stack

I used Hostinger for the Website and FlutterFlow with custom code snippets from my developer friend Lukas for the mobile app and the software. Both the app and the software are connected to the same database in Google Firebase. Servers are in Europe from Google.

Marketing and growth

I had massive PR through newspapers as a 19-year-old founder in Hamburg. I am featured with my product in the Hamburger Abendblatt, Bergedorfer Zeitung, Energy Radio, and even on television at the NDR. Besides PR, I have inserted small jobs in the app to distribute flyers. The flyers did not have a large impact on users, to be fair. But radio and television did.

Furthermore, the startup is backed by the Körber Stiftung, which is the largest foundation in Hamburg for startups.

Moreover, I presented it multiple times on stage in Hamburg. For example, in the Factory Hammerbrooklyn and the Beta Haus.

I had even more public connections, like a cooperation with a newspaper: NeuerRuf.

Revenue and profit

I launched the project in January 2025 as described earlier. It started as a platform connecting people for neighborhood help. In Q2, I launched updates to satisfy product market fit. I didn't earn anything from that. And before you think of commission, no, lawyers warned me that the platform would be responsible for what happens during the neighboring help. The idea I came up with for updates is that companies are able to publish job listings on the app and get applicants. That worked partly. I had a few individual REWE and EDEKA stores in Hamburg that paid 99€-500€ for a job listing each. The price difference is because I wanted to find out what price is fitting the market. Hence, the revenue of 1,415€.

In Q3, I realised that profitable products are SaaS. So I restructured the platform to a subscription model software. The software now does what I described in the Startup Description.

The software is about to launch in January 2026. It just needs finishing touches. The new Website is up and running. The landing page for the software is up and running. The software just needs debugging in FlutterFlow. I have a developer with a team that could finish the debugging, but I personally don't have the time and resources to finish that right now.

I am studying business management at the WHU university at the moment. All the traction and PR, and product I built is too good to be turned down.

That's why I would like to give it into the hands that have time to finish what I started. I will definitely be there for support and a clean transition. I will share the contact to the developer and his team who could finish the project. The App is approved and running on the App Store and Play Store. Every day, the app gains new registered users. I don't even do marketing. I somehow got the stone to roll with PR, and now the word spreads. That's why I need someone to use the momentum before it drops.

The best thing is that the app itself is not required to bring applicants to the supermarket anymore. With the software being what the supermarket pays for, I just sell the 3,000 active users on the app as a bonus. Extra people who can find the job listing and apply on top of the applicants the store generates itself with the QR code.

Return on investment

ROI might take 6 months to a year after purchase. With Startups, there is always a risk, but I already have 2 supermarkets aligned that want to pilot the software and give detailed feedback. They will also become paid software users. I will share the contacts with those two store managers after the purchase, obviously.

Startup assets

Mobile App on App & Play Store with over 3,000 active users

A database in Google Firebase that stores all user and client data

A website

Landing page for the Software

The software itself

Domain

Risks

The only risk is that the team is misconfigured. You, as a new owner, would need to get one technical guy and a salesperson. As I said, I could provide you with a developer and his team to finish what needs to be done. The good part is that I know the developer personally, and he worked on the project a little bit before. The salesperson might be you or someone you know. The salesperson would need to start setting ads once the software is launched in January. And because it has worked until now, go into stores to sell the software. And using the two pilot REWE stores for feedback. The only risk is that the momentum loses pace, but that will ot be the case because I left the neighboring help available in the app, which generates users by word of mouth.

✅ $1,500 in ARR

✅ 10 customers

✅ Business model: SaaS

✅ Built with Flutter, Firebase

Expenses

10€/year domain; 3€/mo variable Google server costs; 20€/mo Web hosting - BUT paid until 2028 by me; 80€/mo FlutterFlow (App and software host).

Business Model

Supermarkets pay monthly subscription to use the software.

Target Audience

Retailers, specifically supermarkets like EDEKA and REWE in Germany.

Asking Price Reasoning

I don't need to defend my asking price. The traction and PR exposure speaks for itself. As I said I am open to discuss a custom price in combination with a royalty because I believe in my project..

Reason for Selling

I need to focus on my bachelors program at WHU university but the platform has too much traction to turn it down.

Growth Opportunity

Every supermarket in Germany struggles with the high turnover of mini-job workers. The platform could soon equip most supermarkets with its software. The biggest growth milestone would be securing a contract with REWE Group or Schwarz Group.
