Overview

Startup Description

My project is a lightweight Chrome extension that lets users fully control the sound on any website directly in the browser. It provides a 10-band audio equalizer, bass booster, preamp, 21 ready-made presets for different genres, and the ability to save custom profiles. The extension works with YouTube and any other audio/video sites that play sound in the browser.

The project started from a simple pain point: inconsistent volume and sound quality across different websites and videos. It was initially built as a “tool for myself”, but thanks to simple UX and a clear, audible effect on sound, it grew into a mass-market product with 500,000+ actual users (internal statistics).Publicly, in the Chrome Web Store, it currently shows 400,000+ users, a 4.6★ rating, and around 7,600 reviews, and it has Featured status in the Entertainment category.

Key Highlights

500,000+ users based on internal data.

400,000+ users, ~4.6/5 rating and 7,500+ reviews in the Chrome Web Store.

Featured extension status → extra trust and organic traffic from the store.

1,000+ daily active users use the extension every day.

Current version 3.5.8, last updated on November 3, 2025.

Functionality

10-band audio equalizer (+/- 12 dB on each band).

21 presets for different genres (Rock, Pop, Jazz, Dance, Hip-hop, Speech, Bass Booster, etc.) plus the ability to edit and save your own profiles.

Bass boost, surround-like effect, and the ability to push maximum volume beyond the default.

Low CPU usage and small package size (~202 KB).

50+ languages (Europe, Asia, Latin America, Ukraine, MENA, and others).

Financial Metrics

Annual revenue: ≈ $12,000/year from ads.

Annual profit: ≈ $12,000/year (infrastructure costs are almost zero).

Business margin: close to 100%.

Important note:

Current monetization is at the bare minimum – only basic advertising is enabled, with low ad intensity.

If you turn on more advertising (more placements, better ad networks with higher CPM, improved fill rate, A/B tested formats), ad revenue can be significantly increased, even without adding a Pro plan or paid features.

Team

The project runs as a lean indie setup:

Founder / main developer:

Owns product vision, UX, and roadmap.

Maintains the codebase (Manifest V3, Web Audio API), keeps compatibility with new Chrome versions.

Ships updates, handles user feedback, and maintains the rating.

Outsourced/part-time (if needed):

Designs the Chrome Web Store page (icons, screenshots, promo graphics).

Helps with localization (updating translations, adding new languages).

For a buyer, this means: you only need 1–2 people to support and grow the product.

Tech Stack

Platform: Chrome Extension, Manifest V3.

Languages: JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS.

Audio: Web Audio API – frequency band processing, bass boost, preamp, effects, volume control.

UI & state: popup + options page, settings stored in Chrome storage.

Internationalization: i18n for 50+ languages (including English and Ukrainian).

Performance: ~202 KB package, low CPU usage even on low-end laptops.

Marketing and Growth

Organic traffic from the Chrome Web Store

Featured status brings extra impressions and installs from the store.

High rating (~4.6★) and thousands of reviews create strong social proof.

Search traffic

Users find the extension by searching for keywords, both in the Chrome Web Store and via Google.

Localization

50+ languages cover key regions: EU, US, Latin America, India, Southeast Asia, MENA, etc.

Product-led growth

Users immediately hear the result: louder, clearer sound, more bass, fewer distortions.

Custom presets for specific devices (headphones/speakers/TVs) increase engagement and retention.

Monetization is intentionally minimal:

Only a small number of ads are shown, with no aggressive formats.

Not all possible ad placements are used, and ad networks are not fully optimized for maximum revenue.

Return on Investment

Starting position for a buyer:

500,000+ total users.

1,000+ daily active users.

Current revenue: ≈ $12k/year, profit: ≈ $12k/year.

Monetization is deliberately “on minimum settings”.

Illustrative scenario with proper monetization:

If you convert just 1% of users into a Pro plan at $3/month:5,000 paying users × $3 = $15,000 MRR.

5,000 paying users × $3 = $15,000 MRR.

At 2% conversion:10,000 paying users × $3 = $30,000 MRR.

10,000 paying users × $3 = $30,000 MRR.

Combined with stronger ad monetization, this gives a large upside for increasing ARR and potentially a short payback period, compared to a project that needs to be built from scratch.

Startup Assets

The “Equalizer for Chrome browser” extension in the Entertainment category with 400,000+ publicly shown users, ~4.6★ rating, and Featured status.

All store listing content: name, description, localized texts, icon, screenshots.

Codebase: Full source Our target customers are regular Chrome users who frequently listen to music or watch videos online (YouTube, streaming services, web players) and want better, louder, or more bass-heavy sound on their laptops and headphones.
Asking Price Reasoning
The asking price is based on a mix of current performance and upside: around $12,000 in annual profit with almost zero expenses, over 500,000 users, 1,000+ daily active users, and strong organic traffic from the Chrome Web Store. Monetization is currently
Reason for Selling
I’m selling because I want to focus on other projects and don’t have enough time to actively grow monetization and marketing for this extension. I believe the project can reach its full potential in the hands of a dedicated team or investor.
Growth Opportunity
The main growth opportunity is monetization: ads are currently minimal, so revenue can be significantly increased by enabling more ads and introducing a Pro plan. Additional growth levers include expanding to other browsers (Edge, Firefox, Brave), launchin
