Overview

Startup description

My product is a hands-free burst self-timer: set the phone down, walk into frame, and it fires full-quality photos at the shortest interval the device allows, saved natively to Photos as a real burst. Free with a one-time $9.99 unlock after 10 bursts. No accounts, no ads, no tracking, fully offline.

Launched May 2026, three versions shipped, 5.0 rating, localized into 10 languages. Built solo as a side project. It works, it's live — I've moved on to other things.

Key Highlights:

$150/yr gross run rate

$0 CAC, 100% organic

47.7% product page → download conversion

3.2% download → purchase

One-time purchase, so no churn

No backend, no data collected, no running costs.

Team

Solo founder, sole developer, no contractors, no one else with account access. Clean single-counterparty handover. Available for one month after the sale for questions and the App Store Connect transfer.

Tech stack

Swift + SwiftUI, StoreKit for the non-consumable unlock, iOS 26.0+, 2.8 MB binary. No backend, no third-party SDKs, no analytics beyond App Store Connect. Private GitHub repo with full history.

Marketing and growth

None. No ads, no launch post, no ASO work beyond the initial listing. Everything below is pure organic App Store traffic.

Impressions: 5,500

Product page views: 327 (5.9%)

Downloads: 156 (47.7% of page views)

Purchases: 5 (3.2% of downloads)

A note on how these are measured: 47.7% is product page views → downloads. Apple's own "Conversion Rate" metric divides downloads by unique impressions, so the App Store Connect export shows ~2.8% for the same period. Both numbers are in the list above; nothing is being smoothed over.

Two takeaways. The page converts. Nearly half of everyone who opens the product page installs — above every commonly cited App Store benchmark (sources put the average anywhere from ~9% to ~34%). The top of the funnel is empty. 5,500 impressions in 4 months means the app is effectively invisible in search. That's the whole constraint, and nobody has ever tried to fix it.

Revenue and profit

Since launch (4 months): $50 gross, 5 × $9.99 unlocks. Net of Apple's 30% commission: ~$35. Annualized: ~$150 gross, ~$105 net.

Costs: $99/yr Apple Developer Program, nothing else. The app therefore covers its own costs today, with roughly $6/yr to spare. For a buyer who already holds a developer account, the incremental profit is the full ~$105/yr.

Worth noting: the app pays Apple's standard 30% because I never enrolled in the Small Business Program. Any buyer under the $1M annual threshold can enrol and drop that to 15% immediately, taking net revenue to ~$128/yr on the same sales. Free upside on day one.

ARPPU $9.99 · ARPU per download $0.32 · CAC $0 · no churn (one-time purchase).

Five purchases is still not a statistically meaningful sample. Treat the 3.2% conversion as directional, not as a model input.

Return on investment

At ~$105/yr against $500, straight cash payback is roughly five years — about four if you enrol in the Small Business Program. I'm not going to dress that up: nobody should buy this for yield alone.

The case is that you're buying a starting position: a live listing, a converting page, and a clean codebase for less than a few days of your own development time. The levers nobody has pulled:

ASO. Impressions, not conversion, are the bottleneck. At 47.7% page conversion, 10× impressions is roughly 10× downloads.

Minimum iOS version. The app requires iOS 26.0+, which excludes a large share of active iPhones. Lowering the deployment target may be the cheapest way to expand the addressable market — worth checking which APIs actually force it.

Reviews. One rating. A review prompt is an afternoon of work and it moves conversion.

Cross-promotion, if you already run a portfolio of camera or photo apps.

At 50,000 impressions/yr and current rates that's ~1,400 downloads and ~45 unlocks — roughly $315/yr net, or ~$380 at 15% commission. Still small, but it turns a five-year payback into under two, on a weekend of work.

Assets

The App Store listing with its published history, original Bundle ID and URL (all preserved through transfer) ·

Full source code, private GitHub repo

Figma file containing the app icon and the App Store screenshot designs (the in-app UI is SwiftUI, built without a design file)

Complete App Store Connect analytics export so you can verify every number here

Metadata and screenshots for all 10 localizations

The domain, where the privacy policy is hosted .

No user database (the app collects no data), no email list, no social accounts.

Risks

Revenue is low, and the sample is thin. Five purchases in four months. The app covers its Apple fee and not much else.

No proven acquisition channel. Organic impressions are low, and the self-timer/burst category has a few competitors. Do your own keyword research before committing.

Summary

A working, converting product page. One hard thing to know in advance — whether people who see the app install it — is already answered: 47.7% do, with zero optimization effort, which suggests there's more left in it.

A live listing already through review and indexed, in an evergreen category, that pays for its own developer account. A clean deal: solo developer, no investors, no user data liability, no server bills. And one obvious untouched lever — visibility.

Wrong for anyone wanting real revenue on day one. This makes ~$105/yr today. Buy it as a cheap option on a growth lever, or don't.

✅ $50 TTM revenue

✅ 5 customers

✅ Business model: LTD

✅ Built with Swift, SwiftUI

Expenses

$99/year Apple Developer Program (if you don't have one) and $47/year domain name (optional).

Business Model

Free download, 10 free bursts, then a one-time $9.99 unlock. No subscriptions, no ads.

Target Audience

iPhone users photographing themselves — solo travellers, bloggers and content creators, people shooting non-selfie dating-app photos, plus groups who want everyone in the frame without a remote.

Asking Price Reasoning

Converting product page (47.7% of views install), a working paid conversion, and the domain.

Reason for Selling

Built it as a side project, now focused on other things. It deserves someone who'll actually market it.

Growth Opportunity

ASO — the page converts at 47.7%, it just isn't seen. Then lower the iOS 26 minimum and add a review prompt.
